ROADKILL ZOMBIES: A MAGICAL COMIC BOOK ADVENTURE

Deep in the woods, there's a magical swamp. Nobody knows why, but it brings animals back to life. Because this swamp is on the side of a highway, most of the critters that have come back to life are roadkill.

Welcome to the world of ROADKILL ZOMBIES— an epic adventure that started as a bedtime story my children and I created. Now it's in the form of a comic book.

Our roadkill zombie hero is Mimi. a neurodivergent undead spider monkey. Mimi’s on the spectrum, dyslexic, and when we meet her as a baby, overwhelmed by the sounds of the forest.

It's Mimi's mother, Sylvia, who teaches the young spider monkey how to self-soothe and to recognize that she's on the SPECTRUM OF AWESOME and her autism is a SUPERPOWER.

Mimi's pals include Benny a neurotic turkey vulture, Rene a fancy French fox, Romeo and Ruth—sibling raccoons who have been fused together, and many other colorful, quirky and compelling characters.

Roadkill Zombies has action, humor, and great life lessons that will resonate with everyone, especially children between 5 and 12 years old.

Our aim is to raise $8,000 to complete the drawing, coloring, and printing of Book 1 of the series.

Thank you so much for helping me realize my dream of turning ROADKILL ZOMBIES into a comic book.

MIMI

Mimi is the unexpected and reluctant hero of ROADKILL ZOMBIES.

Mysteriously stolen from her home in the jungle, Mimi finds herself far away from everything she knows and everyone she loves. Scared and confused, Mimi is soon run over by a minivan.

Luckily, her unfortunate road crossing occurs next to the magical roadkill zombie swamp.  She is resurrected and is thrust into the world of ROADKILL ZOMBIES.

Mimi is often overwhelmed by the sounds of the forest.  She takes things very literally, and personally, and because of her dyslexia, often cannot get the letters to stop dancing.

Despite the challenges, when the leader of the roadkill zombies mysteriously disappears, it is Mimi who steps up and leads a team of ragtag undead animals on an incredible rescue mission that reveals Mimi to be the hero she was always meant to be.

BENNY

Benny is Mimi’s most loyal and trusted friend.  He is neurotic, anxious, and when he gets excited- which is often- his eye pops right out of its socket.

Benny’s also very conflicted because turkey vultures eat dead animals, so he’s constantly fighting the urge to nibble on his roadkill zombie friends. Benny saved Mimi by dragging her into the magical swamp after Mimi is run over by a minivan.

Despite his goofiness, Benny is brave and resourceful and when all seems lost, it is Benny who comes to Mimi’s aid when danger lurks closest.

RENE

Rene is an undead fox whose head is twisted upside down after a violent encounter with a Chevy Chevelle. Rene speaks with a French accent and likes to wax philosphic, until he begins dropping his “r’s” and it is revealed he is really from South Boston. Rene is one of the original roadkill zombies. Despite his aloofness, he cares greatly for his undead family, and is instrumental in helping Mimi and the gang rescue their leader.
